Re: YouTube channel recommendations?
Keep the recommendations coming - I'm aware of Reg Local and have watched a few of his videos! Plenty of new channels to subscribe to, though! I must say the one thing I find annoying about a lot of informative YouTube channels about advanced driving is the lack of subtitles! I'm profoundly deaf, so...

YouTube channel recommendations?
Hello all! Since the lockdown's happening - I suddenly have more free time, but I can't go out and practise driving as much as I'd like to - the only opportunities are the very short trip down to the supermarket or a 20 minute drive to the dog walking park! Since I'm cooped up inside - might as well...

Re: 'Highest'?
I would hope that, if you ask all these three organisations, their universal response is something along the lines of: "Our highest standards are common to all three courses," as in, a driver of a certain ability could expect to be examined by any of the three providers, and the grade they...

Re: What does this sign mean?
Aaaaaah - so it allows locals without a driveway to leave their car there all day and night, and allows visitors to park/sleep overnight in the spaces, but stops people from dumping a huge motorhome in the layby and going walking all day presumably. That's a most unusual set of circumstances, I wond...

Re: Clothoid?
I noticed these bends seemed to catch a lot of people out, people frequently ran wide into the centre of the road at the midpoint of the s-bend going in either direction, and I realised that the reason is because on both entries, the road actually curves slightly to the left before the actual sharp...

Re: What does this sign mean?
So I'm reading that as saying the following for the relevant parking bays I presume are nearby to that sign: - This restriction is in force all year round. - Parking (as in getting out of your car and leaving) is only permissible within the hours of 9am - 6pm, and not allowed at any other time. - Wa...

Re: Clothoid?
Whilst not strictly a spiral entry bend (I think, it might be), I do recall a very sharp s-bend on the entry road into Lambourn, here . Quite early on in my driving career, I noticed these bends seemed to catch a lot of people out, people frequently ran wide into the centre of the road at the midpoi...

Re: IAM (Roadsmart) Skills day
In your car or their cars? Our cars, didn't know Micra could do 75 in 3rd  all morning as well. Only problem was gearstick centre boss fell out, put it down to poor maintenance/vibration :D I didn't know a Micra could do 75 at all! ;) When I learnt to drive in my instructor's Micra, I swear ...

Re: Mazda removing touchscreens from cars
What I'd like to see and have is total voice control of all vehicle settings and functions. I wouldn't like that - I have a bit of a 'deaf accent' caused by my failure to pronounce my consonants, and this makes it an absolute nightmare when I'm trying to get voice activated things to understand me....

Re: First accident...
That's called 'target fixation', and anyone can be caught out by it. It can work in at least a couple of ways. One is probably your crash situation, you are concerned about one thing so overlook others. They other happens in 'panic!' emergency situation, when your vision narrows down, you tense up,...
