ahhh - not much proper roads up there, they are all farm tracks aren't they?! (I only own one LR at the moment - peak was 5 - 2xRR & 3x series LR )

in the bar just below the very blue header on the right hand side is your user name and a little downward pointing arrow - click on that and choose the user control panel.
click profile in the top row of tabs
click edit avatar in the left menu that appears
click the browse button next to Upload from your machine...
but note the file restrictions:
- jpg
- < 30kb
- 90px by 90px

Can anyone advise rem how I reduce a file size to comply with the avatar requirements? I use a mac and my pictures are all in Photos. I did do this once in Windows by moving it into the file manager and then going into Properties - but I can't seem to do that on the mac. Any suggestions?

Preview will let you do it (tools -> adjust size). [sure it goes without saying], but you probably want to resize a /copy/.
