Re: A Local Incident
What does everyone think of Graduated Driver Licencing? I guess it wouldn't do the same for cars though. So what graduation, other than performance would you go for https://www.nzta.govt.nz/driver-licences/getting-a-licence/driver-licensing-resources/ One example, New Zealand. Restrictions on carry...

Re: A Local Incident
What does everyone think of Graduated Driver Licencing? I always thought it was a good idea for motorcycles until the government got involved with the process. It's now so complex it puts youngsters off 2 wheels and they just go for a car. I guess it wouldn't do the same for cars though. But lets t...

Re: Highway Code Review for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders
Is he correct? Is it definitely the case that the 'you should give way to pedestrians crossing or waiting to cross' applies at the entrance and exit of roundabouts? I don't believe he is. If you read the early drafts of the HWC changes there was a clear distinction between junctions (turning into/o...

Re: Highway Code Review for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders
Ashley Neal banging the "you must stop for peds at RABs" drum again on YouTube. https://youtu.be/vXusi54W9W4?t=260 My comment on there "The motorcyclists stopping on the exit to RAB shows exactly why this is not a good idea. Every situation needs to be judged on its own merits and tha...

Re: Highway Code Review for cyclists, pedestrians and horse riders
The revised Highway Code and road user hierarchy are going well, then  Has anything changed in reality? :bike: :car: I do see more vehicles letting peds cross. I do see more peds expecting to be let across I do see vehicles leting people cross in the wrong places. :headbang: I do let peds cro...

Re: Driver Instructor 'teaching' cycling
Seems he has now taken cycle training to be an instructor.
In another video he has said he has a motorcycle.
He now has a separate cycling channel. He still has some strange ideas about 2 wheels. I do occasionally challenge some things he says but it just gets lost in the bulk of the comments.

Re: Driving with DSG
LOL @ JonT :D It wasn't entirely in jest, it was one of the reasons I bought my first auto. And then you can transfer the skill to LFB in a manual... :D Need to watch out as many modern autos will go into limp mode at any hint of throttle and brake. I know from karting you WILL end up pressing both...

Re: Driving with DSG
Hopefully it won't be like the VTec VFR800 where the power could change mid-bend! It really doesn't matter with a DCT. The power never drops out. The way the two clutches change/blend the transition from one gear to another means continuous power/drive. Think of a quick shifter on a bike on steroid...

Re: Driving with DSG
We're getting a car with a DSG auto box. Any hints, tips, thoughts on using it? [Other than "Just stick it in 'Drive"', which would be my default :) ] What make/model is it? Some have dry clutches, others wet. Whichever you should avoid sitting in gear with the handbrake on (es...
